We’ve teamed up with Women’s Agenda to shine a light on women you need to know about and the incredible things they’re doing. From building businesses to making noise, these are the kick-ass women on our radar.
Dr Kirstin Ferguson
Company director and chief architect of #CelebratingWomen
For a woman with a successful board portfolio career, including as a non-executive director with the ABC, I’ve always been impressed by Kirstin’s ability to make time to use social media (especially Twitter) and particularly to use it successfully.
Kirstin’s carved out a niche for herself on the platform, tweeting about her views on everything from company governance to climate change and politics.
But concerned about the level of negativity on social media, she recently set out to do something very different – to get the hashtag #CelebratingWomen constantly trending, and to prpmote “more celebration and less denigration.”
The goal is to go much further than counter the unacceptable harassment of women online – it’s also to share stories that can inspire other women. And it’s especially to highlight the diverse range of careers available for women, and female achievement that may not otherwise be seen.
“Every woman is a role model to someone else, whether they realise it or not,” she told Women’s Agenda.
